Montessori Method
“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn” by Dr. Montessori.
Our Montessori environment is carefully designed to meet these needs and offers rich learning materials to explore in areas like language, arithmetic, science, geography, history, botany, art and music.
Exercises of Practical Life
These activities enable children to learn about themselves their environment and mastery of everyday tasks which help children in building self confidence .These are familiar activities children have seen at home; like pouring, spooning, sweeping, polishing. These activities help the child to develop independence, concentration, social awareness, confidence & co-ordination of movements.
Sensorial Material
Sensorial materials serves as tools for child’s development .Children build cognitive skills , and learn to order and classify impressions by isolating the
physical properties such as shape, colour, texture, sound, smell, weight, size. This rich experience of working with materials gets internalised and remains with the children throughout their lives.
Language
Child acquires oral language skills naturally from his /her environment. At Green Dot we provide opportunities for the development of written language and reading. The Montessori environment is rich with different language materials like sand paper letters, moveable alphabet which helps children to associate the symbol with sound effortlessly, encouraging children to develop writing and reading skills. Working with EPL & Sensorial materials serves as preparation for reading & writing.
Arithmetic
In a montessori environment, arithmetic is introduced with the help of materials. This learning from Physical materials facilitates the increase in cognitive skills of a child. The child gets a sound unnderstanding of the mathematical principals such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division which enables meta cognitive skills and help develop problem solving capabilities.
Culture
Green Dot culture is offered in the form of festivals and celebrations. Also geography, history, botany, zoology, art & music are presented as extensions of the sensorial and language activities. Geography starts with introduction to land and water forms. Children explore different continents countries through photographs, puzzles and molds.
